Cañada de la Virgen

Cañada de la Virgen is a pyramid near San Miguel de Allende.  We didn't know it was there till we were in the gift shop in the Diego Rivera museum in Guanajuato and they had comic books of for pre-Columbian sites in the state of Guanajuato.  So we sort of had to go see it.

It's about a half hour drive around the lake from SMA to get there.  The site closes at 6, but you have to be there by four to get on the last bus to the site.  We were with a tour guide the whole time.  That's not my preference since I can't always follow what's being said in Spanish, but there were also signs in English and as long as you didn't climb on anything important, the guide left people alone.  He knew a lot about the site.  You can read about it here in English.

They had a cool garden planted in a sun and moon design with local plants.  Plants with similar uses were grouped together and it was interesting to read about.
