Pan de Muerto

I like living in places where there are traditional food for certain holidays, and Mexico is really good at that. So we ate lots of pan de muerto this past week.  We tried loaves from several different bakeries, but I liked the bread at the bakery near my house best.  It wasn't too dry and the flavor was good.  And it was convenient, but that wasn't the most important part. They're often orange- or anise-flavored, but this one wasn't too orangey.

The top of the bread is decorated with bits of dough shaped like bones.  You can buy little ones like this, or larger (much larger) ones.  They might decorate altars or graves, or you can just eat them.
