These are the big-beaked crows (or what I call crows) that fill the trees around our house.


  1. That bird looks big enough to carry off a small child.

  2. From my (extremely casual) research (mostly on wikipedia and google images), it looks to me like the bird is a rook (Corvus frugilegus). It could also possibly be a carrion crow (Corvus corone). Either way, or if it's some other species, it definitely looks to me like it's in the genus Corvus, also called "true crows."

    (Since you mentioned you are portioning your bandwidth and paying per megabyte...) (And because I'm also kind of curious)

  3. Thanks, Heather! I was curious too. I'll assume it's a rook, because that sounds better than having lots of carrion crows flying around. Rooks seem cooler.
