So now, of the more recent BBC versions of Austen, I like Emma, Sense and Sensibility, and Pride and Prejudice. Persuasion is, unfortunately, awful. I'd like to see a remake of Mansfield Park; like Emma, at least before this version, Mansfield Park hasn't had a good film made of it yet.

I certainly agree about Mansfield Park--we will just not discuss Billie Piper. OTOH it's not exactly a modern-film-friendly story. It would be quite difficult to make it into a movie, I think.
But I quite liked the Persuasion that was made in 1995. Everyone was kind of ordinary-looking, as if they really hadn't washed their hair in a few days, and it was very well done. Have you seen that version?
I agree about Mansfield Park. It would be hard to create a Fanny Price that stayed true to the book, but also was popular with modern audiences.
I love the 1995 Persuasion. It's my favorite Austen adaptation ever.
I agree with you on the 1995 Persuasion; it's hard to get better than that. Though I really need to see this one of Emma...
