Muyayyad Mosque

Since we're not traveling anywhere right now and living in the US, I think I'm going to start posting pictures on Fridays of places we've been.

This was taken at the Sultan Muayyad mosque and madrassa in Cairo, Egypt, in March 1997. This man was sleeping outside by this design that says the Shahada- There is no God but God and Muhammad is his messenger.

  1. Cool picture. (My kids really want to go to Egypt.)

It will be fun to see more of your photos!

  2. Great photo. I love how the line of shadow bisects the horizontal lines, and how linear the message is. Very geometric, which emphasizes the humanness of the sleeper--almost makes him look fragile. Anyway, you've just given me another reason to look forward to Fridays. :) (this is Heather C from the Nook, in case you were wondering)

I am always so uncomfortable with taking picture of peoples. I don't know why.

  4. I love the uniqueness of this photo too.

W7, I'm uncomfortable taking photos of people too, so I didn't take this one. But my future husband, who was also there, took a picture and I'm glad now we have it.
