Book Club Selection

Have you just been dying to know what book I chose for our reading group? Yes? It's Reading Lolita in Tehran. None of the other women had read it, and I think there's potential for a lot of great discussion in there, from Iranian politics to Daisy Miller to reading fiction and so much more. And we'll eat Persian food while we chat. I'm deciding what we'll have.

  1. My favorite book...not ever...but almost.

  2. I love it for different reasons each time I read it. I'm really looking forward to discussing it next week.

  3. And I'd never seen your blog. I love it!

I've been hearing a lot about this book, but I feel like I'd have to have finished 'Lolita' (as well as all the other books discussed in it) to totally enjoy it.

  5. The first time I read it, I hadn't read most of the books Nafisi writes about, just Gatsby and the Austens. I hadn't read any James or Nabakov. I very much enjoyed it then and still recommend it to people who haven't read any of those.

I still haven't read Lolita, but I've read all the others. This book inspired me to do so and I've particularly enjoyed James since then.

So I guess my point is that it's still an excellent and worthwhile book even if you haven't read all the books she writes about.
