A Perfect Christmas

MFS' post (posted a few days ago) about Christmas sounds just about perfect to me. I am lucky enough to have delighful nieces and nephews who love to play with my children and sing. I have sisters who love to read and don't worry about what they eat. We have a pajama kind of family, and we will be spending one of the next few days at the dinosaur museum near my mother's house. Why would we want to spend our time doing anything else?

Christmas has always been a time of wonder to me, and, so far, we've been successful at having peaceful holidays that are not full, but easygoing and quiet.

And that dinosaur musuem is lots of fun. They have a huge erosion table with sand and running water. My sisters and mother and I have as much fun as the kids building dams and pools, and then flooding all the dinosaurs downstream. :)

By the way, MFS also posted about Reading Lolita in Tehran. I was sure she had, but when I searched her blog last week using the blogger search thing, I couldn't find it. Today I found her handy little search the un-blog space, and found the recommendation.

Ah ha! I'm quite sure that I KNOW that erosion table! And agreed, it is the coolest dinosaur museum we've been to thus far on our travels.

If I have the right museum, my friend sells little plaques in the museum gift store - they are FooFi's - door hangers and picture holders with a sparkly gem somewhere on the design. Many of them have beads at the base. They are cute, and reasonably priced. Actually, if you get to Everything in the Barn, they are there and other locations too.

One of my fondest memories was at that museum - dd made a metal dog tag style necklace with beads spelling out MOM. I've worn it day and night since.

It's always nice to have cool sisters that let the kids enjoy being cousins. Enjoy your Christmas!

Sorry, me again. I just went back and read your Lolita comments (I enjoyed the book) and yes, you can listen to Fresh Air and other shows via internet. Click on Archives and then "other shows" on the left link column. It's nice to listen to programs on your own time. You can also order Fresh Air CDs through Audible.com.

I need to try listening on the internet. I did check into it when Julie mentioned it, but I haven't tried it since we only have dial-up. It breaks up too often. But I could just sit and crochet and be patient after the boys are in bed and listen. I'll have to try it.

We're off to the museum in the morning, and next week too. I'll look for the plaques and see if we're talking about the same place. :)

Yep, and we had a great time. I looked for your friend's things in the gift shop, but didn't see them. I'll look when we go next week.
